
REGULATIONS
The Regulations are the main document in all matters related to the tournament. It contains basic information about where and how the tournament takes place, as well as all included expenses and binding information.
In case of doubt - the REGULATIONS are decisive!
REGULATIONS
33rd ALFREDS KRAUKLIS MEMORIAL
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
FOR ADULT VETERAN TEAMS
PLACE AND TIME
The tournament will take place in Riga, Latvia from August 14th to 17th, 2025.
TOURNAMENT’S MANAGEMENT
The tournament is organized by a union “Alfrēda Kraukļa VEF Basketbols” in cooperation with SIA “AKCUP” and Basketball school BJBS “Rīga”, an established tournament management group and an approved panel of judges.
PARTICIPANTS
The tournament takes place in between separate men and women basketball teams. The tournament has 3 age groups for men and 3 age groups for women:
MEN:
Age group “40+” (players born in 1986 and earlier)
Age group “45+” (players born in 1981 and earlier)
Age group “50+” (players born in 1976 and earlier)
WOMEN:
Age group “40+” (players born in 1986 and earlier)
Age group “45+” (players born in 1981 and earlier)
Age group “50+” (players born in 1976 and earlier)
It is forbidden to participate in the tournament for the players that in the season 2024/2025 have been in the roster of any team countries top level league as well as of Optibet Latvian – Estonian Basketball league, Optibet Latvian Basketball League and Women’s Baltic Basketball league.
The team includes up to 12 players and 2 coaches.
Each team’s management or coaching staff is responsible for the health of the respective team.
TOURNAMENT RULES

The system of the tournament is established by the panel of judges, after the receipt of Registration form, based on the amount of teams in each age group.

Tournament games are played under standard FIBA rules with tournament rule adjustments.

The game time in the preliminary games is 4 x 8min, and finals for 1st and 3rd place 4 x 10 min.

The coach of the team must fill out the protocol of respective game at least 15min before the start of the game.

Teams must bring their own basketballs for pre-game warm-ups.

Men’s group play with basketballs of 7th size and standard regulation baskets, women’s teams play with 6th size basketballs and standard regulation baskets.

Each team has 2 time-outs in the first half, and 3 time-outs in the second half of the game.

If the score is tied at the end of playing time in the fourth period, the game shall continue with as many extra periods of two (2) minutes as is necessary to break the tie.

If a player gets disqualified during the game, he is not allowed to play in the next game of the tournament or has to pay a fine of 25 EUR.

Player, coach and/or team will receive a 10 EUR fine, for each Technical foul in any game situation.

Each team’s head coach or another member of the team needs to arrive in the tournament’s office not later than the first day, to register the team in the tournament.

The finals take place on August 17th, 2025 and are played until 20:30.

Each team covers its own expenses.

Teams must choose preferences for accommodations in the online application form.

Centralized meals are available for tournament participants in all LIDO restaurants (additional info: www.lido.lv/en/) and tournament leaflets.

Check-in at hotel – August 15th from 15:00 and check-out from hotel – August 17th until 12:00.

Teams staying at the hotel are provided with breakfast in the hotel.

N.B. On the first day of tournament there will be an option to get additional meal vouchers if needed.
RANKING SYSTEM
For each win team receives 2 points, each loss 1 point in the schedule. If two or more teams have achieved the same amount of points, higher place is determined by:

According to both team game result;

According to win amount between both teams;
-
According to made and lost points in between teams who have the same amount of points.

According to the made and lost points in the group.
AWARDS
-
First place teams in every age group shall be awarded trophies, diplomas, medals and commemorative prizes. Second and third place teams in every age group shall be awarded diplomas, medals and commemorative prizes.

Best players on the first, second and third place teams in every age group shall be awarded commemorative prizes.

Tournament All-star five players shall be awarded commemorative prizes.
PARTICIPATION FEE, APPLYING AND CONTACTS

Participation fee – 200 EUR per team.
-
Safety deposit per team – 200 EUR – is paid on the first day of the tournament, while registering the team in the tournaments’ office. The Safety deposit is returned after the last game of the tournament. The security deposit is refundable in full if all rules of internal order have been observed at the venue/s, as well as the team has followed generally accepted social order, ethics and moral norms during the entire tournament. The reduction of the amount of the refundable security deposit is decided in each individual case by the Tournament’s Management, as defined in these regulations. If the team leaves the tournament early without playing all the games scheduled for the tournament, the security deposit is not refunded. A fine of 10 EUR is applied to the player, coach and/or team after receiving each technical note in any game situation, which is deducted from the security deposit. If a player, coach or any other team member on the team bench has received a disqualifying foul and a fine of 25 EUR, it is deducted from the deposit.

All participating teams have to submit applications via online application form before July 1st, 2025.
